Around 2007 I really started becoming obsessed with the 1950s; the cars, the Brooklyn Dodgers, the clothing, the simpler lifestyle and of course the rock n roll. As I get older I realize that today’s music doesn’t soothe me like the sounds that emanated from those early glory years. I soaked up everything about the early artists like a sponge.
While I was getting reacquainted with Elvis, Buddy Holly, Bill Haley, etc, I was also familiarizing myself with Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Johnny Burnette, and many other of Rockabilly’s founding fathers. In addition to the originators, I was introduced to many of today’s artists who are keeping this beautiful music alive; J.D. McPherson, Kim Lenz, Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, and the one who makes my heart skip a beat, Imelda May.
So now I am hooked and am really not interested in getting ‘professional’ help for this addiction.
